Hardwood pellets vs. softwood pellets
Hardwood pellet fuel
is made from both the by-products of dried sawdust
waste of from hardwood fibers and raw materials
from hardwood forest. Some of the most popular
types of hardwood trees from which loggers harvest
to bring in to the mills are Oak, maple, birch,
yellow- silver birch, white birch (canoe birch),
elm, beech.
Hardwood pellets have
been the most popular types of pellets used by
consumers mainly because consumers relate hardwood
pellets to hardwood firewood being the the better
with less moisture content. This is not always
the case when hardwoods are pressed in to the
wood pellet however, past experience with firewood
users choose hardwood as the normal burn. Softwood
pellets can burn just as well, if not in some
cases even hotter then hardwood pellets at the
same auger feed rate in the pellet stove without
the threat of quick burn off and creosote.
