Premium wood pellets
I once had a VP from
a well known stock investment firm email me wanting
to know the difference from a premium wood pellet
and a normal wood pellet. In short I explained
the word "Premium" is a selling point
and nothing more. If the PFI
wants to label and seal such high ash and low
grade wood fiber than the reason is just to "Take"
the monies from the wood pellet mills so it can
be used for a tax deduction and then allow the
bags to be sealed with the official seal of the
PFI. What non-sense. The PFI should be investigated
from a higher authority of government to reseting
wood pellet quality standards.
A true preimum wood
pellet is one that defines a very low afterburn
ash with a high rating BTU normally over 8,500btu.
To find a true premium pellet check the manufacturers
test results located somewhere on the bag. You
may also find the results by visiting the manufacturers
website. Low fines is another consideration because
the more the fines found at the bottom of the
bag the less dense the pellets may be.
Premium pellets can
be hardwood or softwood pellets or in some cases
a blended mix.
